Reflections On Mathew 25: 14 – 30
Mathew the Tax Collector by profession was eventually one of
the disciples of Jesus. He has written this gospel which is a part of the
synoptic gospels which reveals that Jesus is the promised King and Messiah. It expresses much about the life and ministry
of Jesus. This is the gospel that begins with the concept of ‘Emmanuel’, which
means ‘God is with us’ and closes with a promises that Jesus after his resurrection
appears to his disciples and say, ‘I am with you always’ (Matthew 28:20)
Mathew 25 consists of:
- Parable of the ten bridesmaids
- Parables of the talents
- Judgment of nations
The second one of the parable of the talents is one of the
well versed to eachone of us, right from a younger age.
Vs. 21 “Well done you good and
trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in
charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.”Here we see a master who give each of his servants some talents according to their capabilities and abilities. Our God has also bestowed us with some talents. There are some who are inclined musically, some which artistic abilities, other with oratory, administration and so on. All are different individuals, no is the same even according to the science there are differences between twins too. Three things that we learn from this parable
We need to understand what talent is being
gifted to us. This is a job that need to be taken seriously and worked upon.
All are blessed differently according to our abilities some with five, some
with two and some with one. We need to question ourselves which area are we the so called 'Kings'. It is only by exploring our talents that we understand our strengths and weakness' and can work on it, to be more productive.
2) Expand the Talents
Once we explore our talent we need to start
expanding it for the glory of God. Working on it, to double it just as the first
two servants. This is what the master expected from his servants and this is
certainly what God also expects from each of us too and not to bury it or hid it underground.
3) Express it to God
Using this talent after expansion for the
glory of God. It makes a real meaning when a full-fledged musician uses his
abilities for the Lord. After all it is all given by God and He deserves some
appreciation.
This is something that many a time we forget to do. Read a tag line recently with a small kid asking the question,
" Did you Thank God Today?" We need to dedicate our God Given Talents, Abilities for His Glorification.
May
God almighty help us to Explore, Expand and Express our talents and resources
like the first and second servants for the Glory of God. Unlike the third
servant, who didn’t use the resources given to him.
Prayer: Thank you Lord for blessing us with talents that are abundant. Help us
all to Explore, Expand and Express it for your glory. This we ask in your
mighty name. Amen
Lovely thoughts Jobin! Keep writing!
